The fourth lambing...

This morning I was woken around 1am by bleating...
This white 3yr old ewe had these two lambs pretty well licked clean! A black ram lamb and a white ewe lamb. both about 8lb.
She later delivered a 6lb lamb that was already dead and obviously had been for a little while. It was mostly brown! So she actually had one of each of the main colours possible!!!

2020 Lambing - Post #3

This single white ewe lamb arrived just a bit before 10:45pm on the 11th of August!
Mum is a 2yr old, and had a single white ewe lamb last year too!

Meantime, the three older lambs and their mums moved out to the big paddock...
The darker lamb belongs to the black (grey) ewe. The lighter twins belong to the light brown ewe.

Sheep for sale!

Yes, I had some sheep to sell...! And they are pretty much all sold...

Please note that ALL of these sheep carry the moorit genetics.

~ white 3+ yr old ewe, born  September 2016
White, with a big black patch over her nose (mostly on one side of her face).
She had two white lambs (1M, 1F) as a 2yr old, and two black lambs (1M, 1F) this season as a 3yr old.
SOLD

~ her black ewe lamb (left side of photo, behind mum) - born August 2019
daughter of the white ewe above, this ewe lamb has white "tear-drop" markings
which I suspect is one of the "blue" pattern genes at the A-locus
 SOLD

~ her black ram lamb (right side of photo, by shed) may also be available!
 SOLD

~ white ewe lamb, born October 2019
Her white dam (not for sale) is a daughter of the white ewe (with black face-patch) in the previous photo
this ewe lamb never sold... but I'm going keep her for now! :-)

~~ twin grey/black ewe lambs - also born August 2019
Their dam is the black/grey ewe in the photo. She is a hand-raised pet ewe that I’m planning to keep

~ 1+ yr old grey/black ewe - born September 2018
Her sire was a triplet brother of the 2+yr old ewe listed next

~ 2+ yr old grey/black ewe - born September 2017
She was one of triplets and her dam was of dairy breeding
She has had twins this season, as a 2yr old... I didn't lamb hoggets last season, or she would have lambed as a hogget!

Another lamb! (2019 lambing - post #6)

This will be my only white lamb this lambing!
Another girl, about 3.5kg or so.
Mum is a hogget, and did very well. I wasn't even aware she was in labour until only a few minutes before the lamb was born - so a very low-stress lambing!
